Oak Hill named National Champions

The Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill basketball team concluded its regular season over a month ago with a 44-0 record and the top spot in the RivalsHigh 100.

It had to wait out the New Jersey Tournament of Champions and the season-ending National High School Invitational to be officially declared National Champions for the 2011 basketball season.

Long the namebrand team in high school basketball, this marks the seventh national title for the program since 1993 and its first since 2007. The program also claimed titles in 2005, 2004, 2001, 1999 and 1994.

Since the initial RivalsHigh 100 was established for the 2008 season, Oak Hill has never been outside the Top 15 with a No. 2 ranking in 2008, No. 13 in 2009 and No. 6 in 2010.

This season was highlighted by wins over seven teams that finished inside the RivalsHigh 100 as well as numerous other traditionally strong basketball schools.

It defeated No. 10 Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian, No. 13 Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI, No. 22 Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep, No. 39 La Porte (Ind.) Lu Lumiere, No. 41 Portland (Ore.) Jesuit, No. 54 Luthonia (Ga.) Miller Grove, and No. No. 96 Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day as well as Arden (NC) Christ School, Greensboro (NC) Dudley, Johnson City (Tenn.) Science Hill, and Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose among others.

The team was lead by a senior group comprised of five-star guard DíVauntes Smith Rivera (Georgetown), four-star guard Tyler Lewis (N.C. State), four-star forwards Jordan Adams (UCLA) and Damiel Wilson (Memphis) and seven-foot center A.J. Hammons (Purdue) with three-star Dario Clark (Charlotte) also playing a contributing role.

With that the rest of the Final RivalsHigh Basketball 100 rankings:
