Pros: A huge passer who has a cannon for an arm and shows fine accuracy and timing in the short and intermediate passing game.. His accuracy has been outstanding over his two starting seasons, as he has worked in a wide-open passing game that focuses on high-percentage plays and allows him to operate mainly from the shotgun. He has excellent arm strength to drive the ball downfield while showing the courage and poise to stand in the pocket until his receivers break open. As a scrambler, he shows good speed and ability to make a big play with his feet and get a key first down. Cons: A major talent who made a premature decision to turn pro. He is clearly not ready to compete for playing time and probably has to sit for two, maybe three, seasons as the No. 3 passer. He needs strong tutelage in all the basics from operating under center to learning an offense. He needs instruction on his footwork to correct some basic flaws that should improve his accuracy. He has not learned to find secondary receivers or read coverage. His focus has been mainly on half the field where he locks onto the primary receiver and relies on simple progressions. Numbers: As a junior in 2005, he completed 195 of 321 passes (60.7 percent) for 2,591 yards and 26 TDs with 7 interceptions. At the Combine, he ran a 4.84 with a 32.5-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot broad jump.
