This summer, the top quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs in the Southeast will make history when they arrive in Atlanta for the first Tee Martin Playmakers Passing Camp. This exclusive camp, founded by former University of Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin, is the first of its kind and is custom designed to train top high school student/athletes for successful careers both on and off the field. The camp will take place this weekend at North Atlanta High School.
The camp will include two days of intensive performance training, film review, academic workshops and Q&As with collegiate and professional players. A skills challenge and awards presentation will take place on Sunday - the final day of the camp.
"Players will leave our camp with knowledge on how to be quicker, stronger, more agile, and more instinctive at their position," says Martin. "They will rise to the occasion on and off the field. They will have a better understanding of the game. They will be unstoppable."
Recognized as one of the game's most impressive dual-threat quarterbacks, Tee Martin led the University of Tennessee to an undefeated, 13-0 National Championship in 1998. He was later drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and retired as an Oakland Raider. Currently, Martin is a lead quarterback coach for the Elite 11 Quarterback Competition, the Nike Football Training Camps and owner of Playmakers Sports, a performance training company in Atlanta. Martin will also spearhead the launch of the Elite 11 Dual-Threat Academies in the winter of 2009.
College systems are changing and evolving, and the Elite 11 Dual-Threat Academies will introduce a style of coaching that is changing with the game. As National Championship-winning teams continue to run dual-threat quarterback systems, the demand for talented athletes like Vince Young and Tim Tebow grows. The Elite 11 Dual-Threat Academies will aim to meet this demand by recruiting, training, nurturing and developing the most exciting dual-threat quarterbacks in the U.S. The academies will be held in select locations throughout the Southeast.
"When I was in high school, there weren't many coaches who were training dual-threat quarterbacks like me for our skill set," says Martin. "But now that the systems are changing, and dual-threat quarterbacks are in demand, there's no better time than the present to start coaching dual-threat quarterbacks based on their unique strengths in order to help them reach their maximum potential."
