EA SPORTS ELITE 11 TRACKER: WEEK 1

HOW THEY FARED THIS WEEK:

NICK CRISSMAN / HUNTINGTON BEACH EDISON
COLLEGE: UCLA

Crissman, who threw for 3,094 yards and 27 touchdowns last fall as a junior, will be looking to improve upon those numbers and guide Edision deep into the playoffs this year. The 6-3, 195 pounder opens his senior season this Friday vs. Pomona Diamond Ranch, who the Chargers beat 35-6 last fall behind two Crissman TD passes.

This week:
vs. Diamond Ranch (8/31)

DAYNE CRIST / SHERMAN OAKS NOTRE DAME
COLLEGE: NOTRE DAME

Crist and FAB 50 No. 32 ranked Notre Dame have to wait two more weeks before taking the field, but when the Knights finally do get to kickoff their season, it should be a classic, as ND hosts the defending California Division I State Bowl champions Canyon, a team ND topped last fall 18-17 on a late Crist TD pass and 2-point conversion toss.

Next week:
vs. Canyon (9/7)

BLAINE GABBERT / PARKWAY WEST
COLLEGE: NEBRASKA

The Elite 11 MVP according to the college counselors will be looking to improve upon his junior numbers of 1,500 yards and 20 TDs passing this fall. Gabbert and his Parkway West teammates open with Poplar Bluff, a team the Longhorns topped 34-21 a year ago and that eventually finished 3-7 on the '06 campaign.

This week:
vs. Poplar Bluff (8/31)

MIKE GLENNON / CHANTILLY WESTFIELD
COLLEGE: NC STATE

Glennon is another Elite 11 QB who finds his team ranked in the FAB 50 to open the year, as Westfield is the preseason No. 1 squad in Virginia and comes in at No. 31 in the initial FAB 50 rankings. The Bulldogs open up this Thursday night at home against a South County team that went 6-4 last fall.

This week:
vs. South County (8/30)

JACORY HARRIS / MIAMI NORTHWESTERN
COLLEGE: MIAMI

Harris hit 24 of 28 passes for 346 yards and three TDs as his Bulls' offensive mates put up 31 points in the first half of their kickoff classic (basically dress rehearsal) against Deerfield Beach this past weekend. Northwestern tees it up for real this Saturday versus rival Carol City, a team with a traditionally tough defense.

This week:
at Carol City (9/1)

STAR JACKSON / LAKE WORTH
COLLEGE: UNDECIDED

Jackson is another signal caller who has to wait another weekend before he gets to lead his team out onto the field for its first game. Jackson however will take care of some other business this weekend, most namely announcing his college choice on Monday, September 3rd at a press conference at Lake Worth.

Next week:
at Vero Beach (9/7)

LANDRY JONES / ARTESIA
COLLEGE: OKLAHOMA

The Landry Jones and Artesia High airshow takes off this Friday night at Lovington High, home of the Chicago Bears' Brian Urlacher. Jones threw for an eye-opening 3,432 yards and 45 touchdowns last fall while leading Artesia to a state title, and the 6-4, 225 pounder hopes to get '07 off to a comparable start on Friday.

This week:
at Lovington (8/31)

ANDREW LUCK / HOUSTON STRATFORD
COLLEGE: STANFORD

Luck and his Stratford teammates open up the '07 season in a highly-anticipated matchup this Thursday night versus Cy Fair High and the Bobcats' Top 100 prospect at running back, Michigan commit Sam McGuffie. Anyone wanting to catch the action can do so as well, as the game will be telecast on Fox Sports Net.

This week:
vs. Cy Fair (8/30)

E.J. MANUEL / VIRGINIA BEACH BAYSIDE
COLLEGE: FLORIDA STATE

Manuel has decided upon a college and lit up the camp circuit, so he now looks to lift his team this season to a playoff berth after going 5-5 last fall. Manuel and the Bayside Marlins begin their tough 10-game district schedule at Kempsville in the opener. The Chiefs topped Bayside in a close one last year, 17-13.

This week:
at Kempsville (8/30)

KYLE PARKER / BARTRAM TRAIL
COLLEGE: CLEMSON

Bartram Trail should be pretty solid in '07 led by Parker, and the Bears are the Class 5A preseason No. 5 team according to Florida Sports Writers Poll that came out this week. BTHS opens at home this Friday versus Palatka, a 3A team that the Bears easily took care of one year ago in the '06 opener, 31-7.

This week:
vs. Palatka (8/31)

SEAN RENFREE / SCOTTSDALE NOTRE DAME PREP
COLLEGE: GEORGIA TECH

Renfree threw for 2,400 yards and 24 TDs last year, but one of his toughest games came against Desert Edge, the school Notre Dame Prep opens with this Friday. Last year Renfree hit just 4-of-9 pases for 35 yards against Desert Edge, but the Saints did manage to escape with a 3-0 win.

Next week:
at Desert Edge (8/31)

JOHN WIENKE / TUSCOLA
COLLEGE: MICHIGAN

The first Elite 11 selection to get his season underway, Wienke had an interesting Friday (and Saturday) as Tuscola's opener versus Sullivan-Okaw Valley was delayed after the first half Friday due to heavy rains and completed Saturday afternoon. Despite the weather, Weinke and his teammates had no problem, as he hit nine-of-14 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 50 yards in not quite a half of action in an easy 46-0 win.

This week:
at Unity (9/1)
