Pac-Tending 04-25-07

"It shows the good work and management that these bowl organizers have doen to create a positive experience for the student-athletes."

- NCAA spokesman Jeff Hathaway, commenting after the NCAA officially approved for this year all of the same 32 bowl games as last year's football season.

The Creek was in the swing of things as both the men's and women's conference championships in golf are being contested this week while, with football season coming up in a few months, the Las Vegas Bowl [which takes the Pac-10's fourth or fifth place team] announced that they will be switching their game to the Saturday prior to Christmas - this year, that will be December 22.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the Division I Board of Directors will take action this week on the measure to ban text messaging between coaches and recruits and will look at a proposal regarding the maximum number of contests a student-athlete can participate in and still qualify for a hardship waiver.
