More than a week ago, our second version of the Rivals100 brought changes near the top and bottom of the list. And while we don't rank players from 101-250, this version of the Rivals250 boasts some interesting additions and subtractions as well. Led by a few three stars like quarterback Cameron Newton.
Newton impressed at the Elite 11 and at Florida's Friday Night Lights this summer and moved into the 250. The Georgia quarterback, expected to commit to the Gators today, looked much more polished than early in the year and has come a long way.
Midwestern defensive backs Jerimy Finch and Donnie Evege, committed to Michigan and Ohio State respectively, were players initially underranked. Finch has excellent size for a safety at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds and a leader at Warren Central, one of the nation's top programs. Evege, 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, has blazing speed and good size for the cornerback position.
A couple of Bayou studs entered the 250 and it's little surprise that each is committed to LSU. Offensive guard D'Montreal Wilson wowed many at the LSU summer camp with his size (6-foot-5 and 295 pounds) and quickness. And tight end Mitch Joseph followed up a solid showing in Baton Rouge at the NIKE Camp in May with a stellar performance at the Tigers' summer camp. His film, received in July, was also a big factor in his addition.
Two defensive ends crack the list. Virginia stud Jamar Jackson joins teammate Davon Morgan from Varina High School in the Rivals250. Jackson is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country after dominating the Virginia Tech summer camp. Jackson is considering Tech, Boston College, NC State, Louisville and others.
And Tennessee rush end Alex Watkins impressed on film received in July with his tall frame and impressive quickness. Watkins is committed to Alabama.
Finally, Oklahoma City stud Gerald Jones jumped into the Rivals250. Jones was impressive at camps at Oklahoma State and Arkansas, flashing his offensive skills at wide receiver and running back.
