BALTIMORE -- Quarterback Blake Barnett completed 13 of 20 passes for 153 yards and four touchdowns in the championship game of the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge 7-on-7 tournament t0 lead Team Highlight to a runaway win over Team Renegade. Frank Buncom IV, Nick Connor and DeAngelo Gibbs intercepted quarterback Deondre Francois in the final game.
Trent Irwin earned the wide receiver MVP trophy after scoring four touchdowns on the day, including one in the championship game.
"Coming in, I wanted to be the best in camp," Irwin said. "It was interesting to see what the best in the nation looked like because on the West Coast, you don't get to see Florida athletes."
Team Highlight was 1-2 in the round-robin portion of the 7-on-7, but won the semifinal and final to take home the title.
"Our offense and defense were a little testy early when we were 1-2, but I'm glad we put it together," Irwin said. "Defense was lockdown in the final."
Terry Godwin led all players with five touchdowns. Sam Bruce, Ray-Ray McCloud and Christian Kirk racked up four TDs each.
Buncom IV and Brandon Jones had two interceptions each to lead all defenders.
Team Renegage, thanks to No. 1 player Byron Cowart, won a spirited Big Man Challenge competition. Cowart won all four of his reps in what turned out to be a rowdy session on the sidelines while the 7-on-7 took place on the main field. Cowart was named defensive line MVP.
Francois took home quarterback MVP honors after leading his team to the final.
