Devine's ultimate Warhorse, Joseph Sadler

Devine's Joseph Sadler turned in one of the most prolific season's in Texas High School football. Rushing for an amazing 3,887 yards, Sadler fell just 158 yards short of Kenneth Hall's single season rushing record of 4,045 yards.

On a chilly night in Sinton TX, the Devine Warhorses took on the Wharton Tigers for the Class 3A Division 2 regional finals. Joseph Sadler was sitting just five points short of Kenneth Hall's 395 point single season scoring record. In a jaw dropping performance, Saddler scored 50 points on seven touchdowns, kicked six extra points, and ran in a two point conversion. He had broken Hall's single season scoring record.

As impressive as all that was, consider the fact that Sadler started at cornerback as well. On the defensive side of the ball, he had two solo tackles and a fumble recovery. He also handled all of the kicking and punting duties.

Walk down Main Street of Devine Texas, and one would have a hard time believing the 5'11, 190 LB redheaded freckled kid standing on the corner could be the one who came all so close to the legendary Kenneth Hall's career numbers.

Sure the Sadler family saw letters in their mailbox from TCU, SMU , Texas Tech and Texas A&M, all expressing a little interest in his abilities, but none of the big time programs came thru with an offer. Sadler shrugged it off and chose Division I FCS Incarnate Word where he is intent to show everyone that he can play at the next level.
