CIF bowl bids come out Sunday afternoon. The most interesting should be the Open division game. Saturday night, No. 18 Anaheim (Calif.) Servite and No. 14 Concord (Calif.) De La Salle showed they may be worthy.

No. 18 Servite 41, No. 6 Mission Viejo 27

When it was over. When Anaheim (Calif.) Servite had won its second consecutive Pac-5 Division Championship over Mission Viejo (Calif.) High and earned another spot in a CIF bowl game, only one question remained:

What was more impressive, the offense or the defense in its 41-27 victory?

Quarterback Cody Pittman and running back Malik Felton led the way on offense with Felton going for 174 yards and four TDs as Servite ran out to a 34-14 lead.

"Who'd they done that to? Let alone us in the CIF finals," Mission Viejo coach Bob Johnson told the Orange County Register. "Everybody here would have put a millon dollars on (Servite not scoring 41 points)."

And it's even money most folks would have assumed Servite couldn't stifle Mission Viejo's high-powered offense - one that entered the game averaging more than 45 points an outing.

No. 14 De La Salle 49, California 21

Its 19th straight section title may have been one of the easiest for perennial power Concord (Calif.) De La Salle.

Lucas Dunne rushed for 146 yards and three TDs and Bart Houston completed 10 of 11 passes for 163 yards and two TDs as De La Salle dominated California.

As good as the offense was, the defense may have been better. It forced three turnovers that resulted in scoring drives of less than 10 yards.

De La Salle is all but assured of a CIF bowl bid. That matchup figures to provide stiff competition. This one didn't.
