CIF bowl bids come out Sunday afternoon. The most interesting should be the Open division game. Saturday night, No. 18 Anaheim (Calif.) Servite and No. 14 Concord (Calif.) De La Salle showed they may be worthy.
No. 18 Servite 41, No. 6 Mission Viejo 27
When it was over. When Anaheim (Calif.) Servite had won its second consecutive Pac-5 Division Championship over Mission Viejo (Calif.) High and earned another spot in a CIF bowl game, only one question remained:
What was more impressive, the offense or the defense in its 41-27 victory?
Quarterback Cody Pittman and running back Malik Felton led the way on offense with Felton going for 174 yards and four TDs as Servite ran out to a 34-14 lead.
"Who'd they done that to? Let alone us in the CIF finals," Mission Viejo coach Bob Johnson told the Orange County Register. "Everybody here would have put a millon dollars on (Servite not scoring 41 points)."
And it's even money most folks would have assumed Servite couldn't stifle Mission Viejo's high-powered offense - one that entered the game averaging more than 45 points an outing.
