Friday's upsets and surprises:
It was a rough night for the two ranked teams in Michigan. No. 47 East Grand Rapids (Mich.) High squeaked out a 49-48 win over Grand Rapids Christian to advance in the playoffs. No. 70 Canton (Mich.) High wasn't as lucky, losing 17-7 to Plymouth to end its season.
In Maryland, No. 95 Gambrillis (Md.) Arundel saw its perfect season end in the final week of the regular season as Southern pulled off the 30-19 upset.
One week after its solid victory over rival Abilene, No. 55 Abilene (Texas) Cooper was knocked off at Midland, 42-35.
Also in Texas, Longview upset No. 82 DeSoto (Texas) High, 38-35.
No. 81 Provo (Utah) Timpview was knocked out of the playoffs by Springville, 38-27.
For the second consecutive year, Manzano stunned No. 85 Albuquerque (N.M.) La Cueva in the teams' regular season meeting, 56-55. Last year, Manzano knocked off La Cueva in the second week of the season before La Cueva returned the favor, beating Manzano in the playoffs.
And in California, it was a thriller as St. Bonaventure knocked off No. 28 Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake, 32-31 in double overtime. St. Bonaventure tied the game at 24-24 with a 31-yard field goal as time expired in regulation. Neither team scored in the first overtime. In the second OT, St. Bonaventure went for the two-point conversion and the win and was successful, pulling off the one-point upset.
Saturday's upsets and surprises:
Most everything went true to form on Saturday night in Ohio, with the exception of one game. No. 72 Middletown (Ohio) High was knocked out of the Division I playoffs by Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne, 21-0. Wayne is led by top quarterback prospect and Ohio State commit Braxton Miller.
