ULM RBs carrying on

For the third time this season, the Warhawks won in dramatic fashion. On Saturday it was the late rushing surge of senior Frank Goodin that finally put ULM on top late in the fourth quarter.

"The play that was called and the way the o-line was blocking, I knew I would have it," Goodin said of his first score of the 2010 season. "It was exciting, I never thought that it wasn't going to happen, I never got discouraged, and I just kept grinding at it."

The two yard score for Goodin moved him into second place on the career rushing touchdown list with 23, and moved him into sixth place all-time on the career scoring list with 156 points.

Goodin entered the season looking to become the school's all-time rushing leader, but has struggled with injuries and has lost playing time to redshirt freshman Jyruss Edwards. Despite Edwards' second start this season over the experienced Goodin, there is no real competition or hard feelings between the two.

"Me and Jyruss play on a two and two rotation, and when I scored, it was actually his rotation, but I told him to let me get it since I had been in that situation before and knew what to do," Goodin said.

Edwards, who broke the longest run of the season to date for the Warhawks, had a pair of scores in the game, but was quick to praise his teammate.

"I was so happy that Frank got one tonight, that was my highlight; to see him smiling because I've been waiting all season for him to get a touchdown," Edwards said.

While the running back duo may have a ways to go to reach the level of other great tandems in the Sun Belt Conference history, such as North Texas' Jamario Thomas and Patrick Cobb, they are well on their way to leading the Warhawks up the conference standings.
