It's taken two months, countless interviews with coaches and players, and hundreds of miles logged on the road and in the air, but the process is nearly complete.

And the initial 2010 RivalsHigh 100 will be announced beginning July 26.

The RivalsHigh 100, now in its third season, ranks the nation's best high school football teams beginning in the preseason and continuing through the regular season and state championship games.

But the preseason ranking in particular has become a highly anticipated announcement for players, coaches, alumni and fans.

The rankings are compiled by RivalsHigh Senior Analyst Dallas Jackson in conjunction with the more than 30 high school publishers across the Rivals.com network.

The countdown will begin on July 26 with the release of Teams 100-91, and will culminate with the announcement of the nation's No. 1 team on the afternoon of Aug. 9.

"The power of our network, with more than 40 high school experts covering teams in 37 of the 50 states, make the RivalsHigh Top 100 the deepest and most complete rankings in the country," Jackson said. "This year's rankings may surprise some, but they came out of a long and thorough evaluation process that began in early June with more than 600 teams."

Teams were evaluated through multiple conversations with the Rivals.com high school publishers and high school football coaches, as well as in-person evaluations at summer camps, combines and tournaments.

Last season, Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep was named the top team in the season-ending RivalsHigh 100 ranking.
