Florida Corner Grabs Offer
Hollywood (Fla.) Hollywood Hills cornerback Tony Grimes plays a big position of need for South Carolina in the 2010 recruiting cycle, and the Gamecocks recently extended an offer to the 6-foot, 166 pounder.
The Florida native currently holds offers from a number of programs.
"I have 9 offers now," Grimes told GamecockCentral.com. "The newest ones are from Texas Tech, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss."
The cover corner is still unfamiliar with South Carolina's program, something he intends to change.
"I don't know too much about the program yet," he said. "I am very excited to gain more knowledge about it."
Grimes has only taken one visit to date and he came away very impressed.
"I went to Georgia's Junior Day," he said.
"It was awesome. I've never experienced anything like it. It was a lot different than Florida. The coaches were cool and down to earth and I'm hoping to land that offer."
The rising senior told GamecockCentral.com that the chances he would take a visit to South Carolina were "very high", but that he would take a wait-and-see approach.
"Depending on the other offers that I get, I will then determine what my five officials will be. For right now I don't plan on taking any unofficials."
Grimes knows what is important to him when determining where his home will be in college.
"The depth chart, campus life, and my connection with the coaches," he said.
There will be no early decision for the Sunshine State defender.
"I will decide on Signing Day," he said.
