Bullough liked what he saw in the ones

It was apparent that new UCLA defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough was pleased with his defense, but ever an old ball coach was sure that tape would give him corrective material to teach his players. Bullough spent time with the media after Saturday's (April 11) scrimmage talked about his defense.

How did you feel your defense performed for your first major scrimmage as UCLA's defensive coordinator?

Bullough: "I thought the ones performed well. The twos, we're about to go look at the film, I think they let a couple of runs slip through there that they shouldn't, but we have to go find out who the culprit was, but generally it was a good practice.

"There was a little bit of missed tackles, which you expect in the first live scrimmage, in terms of live tackles, but I thought it went well. There is obviously going to be a lot of places for improvement. As I was just talking to before, our installs are done. There won't be any more defenses, basically so the guys can start settling down and play. Right now they are thinking because they got all installed. Now they can settle down for the rest of spring and we should see a lot more improvement from now on."
