WVSports.com's Day 3 notes

MORGANTOWN--The third day of spring practice was a win for the defense. If there were dirt at Mountaineer Field, you could say the defense knocked the offense into it.

As it was, the No. 1 and No. 2 defense took turns belting their colleagues on offense at the goal line, as the coaching staff ran their charges through several series of scrimmaging, with the ball coming off the goal line.

The team was in shells (shoulder pads) for the first time, and will scrimmage Saturday morning, while about 20 high-school junior prospects and their families look on.
