Thames happy with commitment to MSU

Throughout the recruiting process Dennis Thames has always kept nearby Mississippi State at the top of his list.

Last weekend, Thames finally pulled the trigger and announced his decision to become a Bulldog. Now that the news had sunk in, Thames as well as the entire town of Louisville seems to support his commitment.

"Everybody is very happy," Thames said. "My whole town is happy that I am going to Mississippi State. I've had a few people that told me that I should have gone out of state but I'm close to home and everybody is happy. My teachers are happy and I am happy too. As long as I am happy then everything is going to be OK."

The four-star prospect teamed up with another one of the Magnolia State's top recruits in Chad Bumphis and the duo made a pact to both wear maroon and white.

"I got up there and me and Bumphis started talking," Thames said. "Me and him just pretty much said if you come I will come. We had already been talking about it. We decided to commit that day at it was a special day and now we are some Bulldogs."

Thames and Bumphis were not the only two commitments MSU picked up on the weekend. LaDarius Perkins and Darius Slay also pledged their signature to the Bulldogs.

The 5-foot-11, 183-pounder had offers from Southern Miss, Auburn, Michigan and Ole Miss. Thames took an official visit to Southern Miss on Jan. 9 but was eager to end the recruiting process.
