Muhammad Highlights Big Commit Day
The Cowboys received a commitment from St Josephs, Missouri defensive back Ghaali Muhammad on Saturday following the athletes visit to the University of Missouri over the weekend.
Muhammad is another big coup for Dave Christensen's staff on a day that included the commitment of blue chip quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels, North Crowley (TX) Safety Larry Mitchell, Round Rock, Texas cornerback Kenny Browder, Oak Park, Illinois defensive end Mark Willis, and Chicago area wide receiver Rodney Jaynes.
Muhammad is an athletic prospect with a huge upside, especially considering two of his relatives played major college football and in the NFL. Martin Rucker plays for the Cleveland Browns and starred at Missouri while Mike Rucker was a 10 year veteran in the NFL.
"I visited Missouri over the weekend and they won't offer me a scholarship," said Muhammad who flew under the national recruiting radar."I'm going to commit to Wyoming."
Muhammad contacted UW recruiting coordinator Matt Rahl to commit on Saturday. Rahl was the main recruiter for the 6 foot and 210 defensive back. The Cowboys list him as a defensive back though is athleticism will allow Muhammad to be evaluated at several different positions.
"I thought the Wyoming campus and athletic facilities were very good," he said. "There is potential for me get playing time and become a part of a building program. It was a good visit and we go to go snowmobiling which I've never done."
The Cowboys are currently at one officially signed in JC quarterback Robert Benjamin and 16 commitments to date with the 6 commitments over the weekend.
The Cowboys still have Minnesota product wide receiver Fritz Rock, Dallas Wide Receiver Michael Harrison, Missouri high school offensive linemen Parker Graham, and wide receiver prospect Sharman Brown in the mix for potential commitments.
Graham is visiting Northern Illinois this week and could make a commitment by the end of the week.
