Three-Star Receiver Visits UAB
Devin Figaro, a three-star wide receiver from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., made an official recruiting visit to the Blazers this past weekend. What did he think of UAB?
Figaro said the entire visit was "a positive trip." He was impressed with the school, the coaches, and the other Blazers players.
"I was impressed with the school," he said. "I liked the academic program." Figaro says he plans to major in either journalism or business management if he comes to UAB.
He was just as pleased with the football program. "I liked the way the coaches treated me," he said, "they made me feel at home."
"This is all new to me," he added. "I've never been around college coaches before, and they made me feel comfortable."
Figaro said he felt just as comfortable around the current UAB players. "The players treated me like I was part of the team," he said.
Still, Figaro will wait awhile before deciding which school he will attend. In addition to UAB, he has offers from three other C-USA schools - Tulane, East Carolina, and Marshall.
The SEC has also shown interest, with Ole Miss actively talking with him. Those schools like his height (6-foot-2), size (185 pounds), and speed (4.6 in the forty). He has the potential to be a major receiver for whichever team he joins, including UAB.
"I could come in and be part of the team," he said. "I wouldn't start right away. I'd have to prove myself first."
UAB receiver coach Tim Bowen is the Blazer coach who has been recruiting Figaro.
