Grant takes one offer into playoff run
Beaumont (Texas) West Brook is a program that has showed some tremendous potential this season and has one of the most explosive offensive attacks in the state of Texas. As the Bruins stare down a playoff run, they will be looking to players like wide receiver Ryan Grant to continue the kind of offensive output that allowed them to pour in 51 points last week against Pasadena Memorial.
"The season's going good right now," Grant said. "We just have to work on our defense. Once we get our defense right, I think we can win state."
Personally Grant has put together a season that has included 35 catches for over 600 yards and 6 touchdowns in 11 games. All that damage has been done while battling a nagging hip pointer injury.
"I just came off an injury with a hip pointer but I feel like I'm playing really well," he said. "I've just been playing through the injury. I've never missed a game in high school. I don't really think it will get completely better until the season is over but I'm ok right now."
Currently, Grant holds one official scholarship offer from Tulane. He is also hearing from a number of other programs from around the country.
"I talk to Missouri, Purdue, Western Michigan," he said. "I've also talked to some I-AA schools. I talk to UCLA. I'm going to do all my visits after the school is over. I like Missouri, Purdue and Tulane. I think they're all great programs."
Grant said that he is in no rush to make his decision and plans to take his time until he feels comfortable with a choice.
"I think I'm going to be waiting a while," he said. "I don't want to rush anything at all. I want to go to the best place that fits me the best. I'm looking for a good football program and also that is a good educational school just in case something happens with football."
Next up for West Brook is Dickenson High School in the second round of the playoffs.
