Three-star quarterback close to a decision?

The summer has been a busy time of year for Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints Episcopal quarterback Doak Raulston. The 6-foot-1, 181-pounder has one offer from Air Force but he has been making the camp rounds in an attempt to grow that list. As the month of July hits, Raulston may be close to offer number two, and in turn may be close to a commitment.

"I've been going to a lot of camps and working out," Raulston said of his summer. "I've gone to Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Utah, Rich, Houston, Oklahoma State, and SMU. It's been pretty busy. I haven't really scheduled any more camps unless a school calls me and invites me personally. I think I'm about to pick up offers from Kansas State and possibly Utah."

If a Kansas State offer does come, that may also signal a potential commitment for Raulston.

"Kansas State has told me that they'd offer but that I'd have to commit," he said. "I'm definitely considering it. They have shown a lot of interest in me and they've been recruiting me probably the hardest. I loved everything about the school and the coaches and no one else has really come forward."

While the Wildcats are giving Raulston his room to think about his options, the talented signal-caller could be close to a decision.

"I wanted to get it out of the way before the season starts," he said. "I'm really thnking about committing but they're giving me some time to think about it."

Several factors have Raulston intrigued by the opportunity at Kansas State, not the least of which is the coaching staff.

"Coach Ruggiero is their quarterback coach and he's a good guy and he has a lot of experience. Coach Price is great and he's a really nice guy. Their facilities are nice and they're in the Big 12 and they have a good program. I think they're on the rise."

Other schools that Raulston is considering and would like to get offers from include Vanderbilt, Houston, Rice and Louisiana Tech. Wherever he ends up, he will be a major addition.

"I think one of my strengths is accuracy and another is leadership," he said. "I'm working on my footwork a lot right now and most of all getting faster. I'm definitely mobile though and I can do a lot of things with my legs."
