Blake makes a return trip to Texas

As one of the top prospects in the Central Texas for 2009, Austin (Texas) High wide receiver Emory Blake has made several unofficial visits to the hometown Texas Longhorns over the last couple of months.

After attending the first Texas Junior Day and the spring game in March, Blake had a clear understanding that scholarships were tight for the Longhorns and there was a real possibility that the only receiver that would be offered for the class of 2009 would be Aldine Eisenhower's Greg Timmons, who is already committed to Texas.

The 6-1, 194-pound Blake returned to the 40 Acres again on Sunday in hopes that his performance in the one-day summer camp might land him an offer.

"I think it went good," Blake said following the camp. "I had a good time. I think I really showed them what I'm capable of doing."

As far as the talk of scholarships, Blake said that there's nothing new on that front.

"I did talk with the coaches about (scholarships) and they told me that they are really interested and want me to come there, but they don't have any ships right now. If anything pops up they will let me know."

Of course, it's not as if Blake doesn't have a ton of options, with recent offers from Oregon, Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and others.

"I'm fine," he said. "Texas is a good school, but there are a lot of other schools out there if Texas isn't the school for me. Oregon, Missouri, Nebraska, Tulsa, Texas Tech and Colorado stand out."
