Mobile Duo Catches Passes and Attention

Williamson receivers LaVoyd James and Mujahid Assad are used to attracting plenty of attention on the field. This summer the duo will be receiving plenty of attention off the field as well. James and Assad are attracting college coaches like they attract defensive backs on Friday nights.

"I have offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Alabama and Marshall," said James. He is also hearing from Alabama, UAB, Auburn, USC, Miami and Florida State - among others. "I don't have a favorite right now," he said.

Assad has started to narrow his choices a bit more. "I have offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Marshall and South Alabama. Right now Arkansas is my favorite followed by Mississippi State," he said. Assad is also hearing from Alabama, UAB and Auburn.

The two put up some huge receiving numbers for Williamson last season. James pulled down 53 passes for 750 yards (14 yards per catch) and 15 touchdowns. Assad snagged 33 passes for 917 yards (28 yards per catch) and 10 touchdowns.

"What I do best is get up the field," James said.

"I've got speed and can get open," was how Assad described his game.

James is uncertain about where he will be camping this summer and said he would be talking to his coach soon about how he would handle his unofficial and official visits.

Camps with UAB and Auburn were on Assad's summer schedule. He also plans on making some visits this summer - and then he will put everything on hold until after the season.

James and Assad will be working with a new quarterback this season last year's starter Brandon Smith signed with Auburn last year. However Lion's fans and a host of college coaches are expecting this tandem to continue to be productive regardless of who's throwing the ball.
