Orlando safety impresses Auburn coach

The Auburn coaching staff has been on the road the past two-plus weeks checking out many of the nation's top prospects.

One of the most recent stops for defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads was Edgewater High School in Orlando, Fla., where he checked out safety Mike Jones at a practice.

Apparently, Rhoads liked what he saw.

"Coach Rhoads called my dad later on that day and said Auburn was offering," said the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Jones. "Everybody was excited. Auburn is a good school. They're in the SEC and that is a strong conference.

"It was real exciting. It would be a blessing to go there."
