Four-star RB impressed with TCU

During TCU football coach Gary Patterson's recruiting press conference a couple of months ago he mentioned that one position the staff will be going hard after is quarterback. Consider that mission accomplished as the Frogs have a commitment from Rivals250 member Casey Pachall and are among the favorites for fellow Rival250 signal caller Shavodrick Beaver.

However, possibly the biggest position that Frog fans would like to see the staff reel in a big time player at is running back. Considering the Frogs produced arguably the NFL's current top runner in LaDainion Tomlinson, it should be a lock for the team to land a big name as some would think. While TCU landed a talented speedster in Edward Wesley in the 2008 class, the Frogs are setting the bar even higher for 2009. Rex Burkhead, Montrell Conner, Knile Davis, Waymon James, and most recently Stepfan Taylor are just a few of the players the team is after and Conner, Davis, and Taylor are all four-star prospects.

Stepfan Taylor from Mansfield, Texas visited Ft. Worth last weekend to see what the program was about and came away impressed.

"[The visit] went real well," he said. "I thought the campus was real nice, I like the fact that it is in Texas and real close to my house, it's only about twenty minutes down the road."

Although Taylor says he doesn't have any favorites just yet, he did say the Frogs definitely made an impression on him.

"Yes sir they made a big impression," Taylor said. "They did a good job of informing me about the school and I had a friend with me who really liked it. I got to meet with Coach Patterson and he was a real nice guy. He's straight forward, all the coaches were and that's what I liked about them. They said they mean business on the field but once they're off it there all nice guys."

Taylor, who rushed for over 1,500 yards in '07 missed the Frogs scrimmage Saturday and won't have a chance to see them again at the spring game due to another visit.

"I won't be able to see the TCU spring game because I'm going down to Texas A&M's and I think they're on the same day."

Taylor says he plans on making more visits before making a decision.
