Top linebacker still waiting on UT offer
How do you know when things are going well for a prospect in recruiting?
In the case of Abilene (Texas) High linebacker Chris Williams it's when you've started to acquire so many offers that it becomes tough to remember them all.
"Oh man, I'm going to have to look at my phone," Williams admitted before reading off the full text of offers. "There's Tennessee, TCU, New Mexico, Texas Tech, Baylor, Arizona, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Missouri and Nebraska."
One relatively recent newcomer to Williams' list of favorites is Nebraska. Although he hasn't mentioned the Cornhusker sin the past, it would appear that they've landed on his radar in recent weeks.
"I talked with Nebraska and I'm going to start looking at them more," Williams said. "I'm definitely more interested in them now."
One of the big wildcards in Williams' recruitment is Texas. The 6-0, 230-pound Williams has said on numerous occasions that an offer from the Longhorns would have a big impact in his decision-making, but at this point he hasn't been able to visit Austin and the Longhorns haven't yet extended a scholarship offer.
"I'm not sure when it's going to happen," Williams replied when asked about a potential visit to Austin. "I'll need to sit down with my mom and discuss when it will happen."
Regardless of what the Longhorns decide to do, Williams seems to be under the impression that he's at the starting line of what could become a long race.
"Things have just started," Williams admitted.
