An emerging tight end visits Athens

One of the hottest prospects in the Peach State is tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen. He has picked up five offers recently and he is emerging as the top prospect at his position in Georgia.

"I have offers from Troy, Auburn, Stanford, Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech now," said Lutzenkirchen. "Mississippi State and Troy offered me first and then Auburn, Stanford, and Georgia Tech offered me last week."

"I visited Auburn for their Junior Day and then they called me a couple of days later and offered me last Monday. Stanford offered me after that and then Georgia Tech offered me Thursday when I visited them."

"I met with Coach Paul Johnson in his office for about 45 minutes and he offered me. He said he liked my athleticism and they wanted to go ahead and offer me as an athlete."

After picking up an offer from GT and watching the Jackets upset Clemson in basketball Thursday night, the 6-foot-4, 232-pound tight end traveled over to Athens on Friday.

"I got there Friday afternoon and I had a chance to check out their academics first," he said. "After that, I went to their position meetings with the quarterbacks and tight ends. I got to watch film, watch how they make their calls, how they run their routes, and things like that."

"After the meetings, I went out and watched practice and it was their first practice in pads. They were really getting after it and it was fin to watch."
