5-star running back picks Ole Miss

Enrique Davis, a five-star running back from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., has signed a Letter of Intent to play football at Ole Miss next season.

The top rated prep prospect in the country, Davis is the lone five-star in head coach Houston Nutt's first recruiting class at Ole Miss.

Davis had been committed to Auburn but decommitted in January. Davis originally planned to attend Auburn as a member of the 2007 class, when he was ranked as a four-star and the third-best running back in the class.

While at Hargrave, Davis made a strong impression on head coach Robert Prunty.

"From what I saw, he's got power and speed, a guy a lot like Bo Jackson," Prunty said.

After decommitting from Auburn, Davis took an official visit at Ole Miss.

"There is so much young talent here," Davis said after his visit. "I feel like I could come in and make an immediate impact here and see immediate playing time. I like that a lot."

Davis visited Oxford with his Hargrave teammate Andrew Harris, a four-star wideout who committed to Ole Miss Monday night.

Along with Davis and Harris, the Rebels also picked up commitments from Hargrave defensive backs Julian Whitehead and Jared Mitchell.

Davis joins a strong running back class consisting of four-star Darius Barksdale and three-stars Devin Thomas and Brandon Bolden.
