California OL checks out MSU

Michigan State is looking to add another offensive lineman to the recruiting class of 2008 and they are leaving no stone unturned in the process. One of the players they are actively recruiting is 6-foot-5, 270-pound Connor Bradford of Palmdale High School in California. The Rivals.com 3-star prospect and 64th ranked tackle in the nation, spoke with SpartanMag.com last night about his visit to East Lansing.

"I just got back, Bradford said. "I had a good time, it was different. The weather is a lot different than here. I got to meet the coaches and players and see the campus."
Bradford was hosted by Spartan offensive tackle Jesse Miller on his official visit. Bradford was able to meet several of the other Spartan offense lineman as well as fellow recruit Rhonne Sanderson. He also spent time speaking with his primary recruiter and position coaches, Mark Staten and Dan Roushar.

One thing that stood out to Bradford was the upgrades that are being done to the Duffy Daugherty Football Complex and the Spartan weight room.

"I was impressed with all the renovations they are doing, it is going to be real impressive when they get that done," he said.

Bradford is currently listed as a soft-commitment to UCLA in the Rivals.com database, we asked him what his current status is and when he will likely make his final decision.

"I guess you can still say that I am a soft commitment to UCLA. I will probably make my final choice the week before signing day. I might take another visit this weekend, but I am not sure."

Bradford did indicate that he enjoyed getting a chance to talk with Coach Dantonio prior to leaving Michigan State University

"He talked about the program, what it means to be a part of it and what they are looking for from the players," he said.

One aspect that probably did not help the Spartans chances was the bitterly cold weather that descended on the country this weekend. The coldest weather of the year was in-place this weekend and Bradford indicated that being from Southern California it was quite a bit different. Then again the high in Palmdale was only supposed to reach 47 degrees today.

Bradford sated that the Bruins are well aware that he is looking around and that the news staff has been in contact with him and wants him to be a part of their recruiting class.

SpartanMag.com will follow-up with Bradford after next weekend to find out the latest news on his recruitment. It is possible that he could take another official visit this weekend. Teams like Cal and San Diego State have been showing interest. Bradford indicated that he had not had an in-home with the Spartans staff and that could happen later this week.
