Connor, Lions hope to finish on high note

Penn State senior linebacker Dan Connor was announced today as one of 15 semifinalist 'Players to Watch' for the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year Award.

The short list of Connor's awards and honors include being a Butkus Award Finalist, Bednarik Award Semifinalist, two Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Weeks, two Big Ten Defensive Player of the Weeks, Lombardi Award Semifinalist, and the Lott Trophy Watch list.

Pretty impressive, but hardly unexpected for the senior who broke Paul Posluszny's school record with three games to play in his senior season and has a total of 123 tackles this season - including two 18-tackle performances.

Chances are, like the dozen other weekly honors that Connor has pulled in this season, he probably has no idea that today's announcement was made, or that he was even a potential candidate for the award in the first place.

According to Connor, he doesn't receive any calls, emails, voicemails come from the organizations that hand out the honors from week to week. Not even a note in the mail.
