Junior College 'backer checks out Wazzu

Sterling Lewis put together quite a sophomore campaign at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. The 6-foot-0, 230-pound linebacker racked up 65 tackles, 20 for a loss, nine and a half quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles and two touchdowns.

He was a first-team all-conference selection.

"We had a pretty good season," Lewis said. "We went 7-3, but we lost in the first round of the playoffs. I did better than I expected. I was really trying to improve as a tackler; I think I did that."

Washington State is one of the colleges currently after his signature.

"I just took a visit to Washington State this past weekend," Lewis expressed. "It was a pretty good visit. I liked the program and their facilities. And I was impressed with how much the community is into the school and how much they are into the football program."

Was Lewis tempted to commit during his trip to Pullman or does he plan to take more visits?

"I plan to take some other trips," he said. "I want to go visit Arizona but I don't have that trip set up yet. I don't know much about them but their coaches came out here and they said they like my film. I like the fact they play in the Pac-10, like Washington State."
