Compton athlete heating up

Compton, Calif., high school is enjoying their best season on the gridiron in years. They suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Long Beach (Calif.) Poly. Losing to one of California most storied high school programs is nothing to be ashamed of.

While there are many colleges clamoring for the services of four-star defensive end UCLA commit Datone Jones, there is another from Compton high school who has had a lot to do with their 8-1 record and that is cornerback/quarterback Bernard Griffin (5-10, 161, 4.5).

"Bernard hasn't received an offer yet," Compton coach Kelvin Bryant said. "But I'm sure offers are coming. He's getting a ton of interest.

"Bernard is the most athletic guy on our team," Bryant said. "That's why we play him at quarterback.
