Hogs look to Gamecocks
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt was pleased to get the win on Saturday, but he knows the next four weeks will be much tougher.
Arkansas has four SEC games remaining on its schedule and if they are able to win three or four of those it would insure they go to a good bowl game. Arkansas will play host to South Carolina on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a nationally televised football game.
Before concentrating on the Gamecocks, Nutt gave a review of the Florida International game to the media on Sunday. Arkansas won 58-10 and Nutt was pleased his team didn't play down to the level of its competition as it did against Tennessee-Chattanooga earlier this season.
"I was really proud of our team," Nutt said. "Those are tough games to play. I thought for the most part we had great preparation during the week and our guys came out ready to play. Our defense made it very easy because of the short field when they kept getting fumbles and interceptions."
Nutt was also pleased to get senior wide receiver Marcus Monk back in action. Monk caught 2 passes for 19 yards including a 13-yard touchdown from backup quarterback Nathan Emert.
"It was good to see Marcus Monk back out there," Nutt said. "I think that really gave us a lift. Even though he has dressed out a couple of times, we didn't know if he could play a play or two here or there. We knew during the week when after he made a couple of practice plays he was for sure going to play. There's that respect for 85. He gives you experience, leadership and route-running ability."
