Sooner Hot 11: Utah State
Let's face it, if Oklahoma keeps putting together one impressive performance after another we may have to change the name of the Sooner Hot 11 to the 22. Simply put there just isn't a player that doesn't deserve to be on the list. But splitting hairs is a dirty job and Soonerscoop.com has decided to do it just for you. So was it a Sooner offensive player who has found his way to the top of the list again or has a home grown star finally made a dent for the defense?
|11. Allen Patrick, Running Back - Stats: Eight carries for 113 yards and one touchdown |
Analysis: The only surprise about Patrick being on this list is that it has taken him three weeks to do so. The talented senior had high hopes coming into the season but was derailed by a pre-season ankle injury. However, he wasted little time showing off his return to health after showing glimpses against Miami last week. Patrick is such a ferocious between the tackles runner he is always at some risk of injury but if he can stay healthy he'll see his name on this list again.Last Week: Unranked
|10. John Williams, Defensive End - Stats: Two tackles, one tackle for loss (two yards) |
Analysis: I've long been on the Williams bandwagon and he continues to make me look smart. While we will never know if he could become the player he might have been prior to his long list of injuries, it's clear that he can be a difference maker this year for the Sooners. One thing that has improved over the years is his ability to defend the run rather than just purely being a pass rusher. Williams lives somewhat in Auston English's shadow but people are taking notice of his exemplary play on the edge.Last Week: No. 10
