Learning how to practice
Early Doucet had been a part of the LSU football program for one season when he was joined by one of the top receivers from the Houston, Tex. area.
Brandon LaFell caught 46 passes for more than 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns in his senior year at Lamar High School. He also intercepted eight passes, four of which he returned for touchdowns. LaFell also got into the end zone twice on put returns.
However, Doucet knew that LaFell had much to learn about college football. Having endured problems in his first year under former coach Nick Saban, Doucet realized that LaFell had a period of adjustment in the future.
"When Brandon first got here, he didn't know how to practice," Doucet said.
