New blood on offense

When Florida State's offense takes the practice field Tuesday for the first preseason practice of 2007, several young Seminoles will be in the unfamiliar territory of running with the first string.

From sophomore left tackle Daron Rose and sophomore fullback Seddrick Holloway to freshman center Ryan McMahon and even junior receiver Richard Goodman, the Seminoles' offense has the potential to have fairly inexperienced players starting at a variety of key positions.

That's not to mention youngsters such as sophomore tackle Caz Piurowski, redshirt freshman guard Evan Bellamy and sophomore guard Matt Hardrick, that are one injury away from moving up to the starting unit.

Though Holloway, Rose and the other newcomers to the starting lineup are excited about their opportunities, none of them are taking things for granted.

"I've been excited since the spring that I was that No. 1 guy," said Holloway, who beat out returning starter Joe Surratt with an impressive performance in spring drills. "I'm just going to go in and take it like I'm third string and just work my heart out."
