Locke gives USC visit high marks

Phoenix (Ariz.) punter/kicker Jeff Locke has taken unofficial visits to schools across the country this summer, and one of the last stops on his tour was in Columbia, S.C., to check out the South Carolina Gamecocks. Locke came away impressed with what he found.

"It was a great visit," the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Locke said. "My dad visited together, and we both liked it a lot."

Locke, who converted seven field goals with a long of 43 yards as a junior, started the trip off with a bang.

"The first thing we did when we got there was meet with coach (Steve) Spurrier in his office," Locke said. "He's a lot different than how he's portrayed in the media. He's down to earth and very easy to talk to. He told us a lot about his program and made it clear he really wants me to be a part of it."
