Defensive tackle appears to be in good shape

Defensive tackle, like defensive end must replace both starters this season. However, when you compare defensive end to tackle, things are in a much different situation.

The Huskers return solid experience at defensive tackle, so there shouldn't be much of a drop-off for NU despite the fact they lost both starters to graduation. Here is a complete grade out of the defensive tackle position heading into summer conditioning.

Some might think this grade is a little high for a position that both lost starters over the off-season, but defensive tackle appears to be in very good shape heading into summer conditioning.

Sophomore Ndamukong Suh and junior Ty Steinkuhler are both solid starters and senior Brandon Johnson and junior Shukree Barfield appear to be capable back-ups.

Suh has All-Big 12 potential when you look at him physically on paper. He has the ability to blow through double teams with ease. There also doesn't appear to be much of a drop-off when you compare Steinkuhler to last year's starterBarry Cryer.

Between the two JUCO guys, I see Barfield the biggest contributor over Johnson because of the fact he'll have two solid years in the system.
