Spring Storyline 3: Battle at left tackle

Looking for scenarios to pay attention to during Saturday's spring game at Camp Randall Stadium? Today, BadgerBlitz.com brings you five storylines - in no particular order - that have developed during the spring, continuing with the battle at left tackle between Jake Bscherer and Gabe Carimi. Obviously several other storylines have developed throughout the spring, but the five you read today are a handful of scenarios this site finds important to look out for during the spring game.

It has been rumored that former Badger offensive lineman Joe Thomas will skip the festivities in New York during the weekend of the NFL draft in order to go fishing with his father.

University of Wisconsin offensive line coach Bob Palcic probably wishes he could go with his former All-American left tackle.

The second year line coach has battled all spring to find a replacement-better yet, a substitute-for Thomas, a challenge that many knew would be next to impossible.

"Now if I could only get this guy back, I don't think I would have any worries," Palcic said jokingly earlier this spring as Thomas walked in his path while he was giving an interview.

And though he didn't expect any of the current UW linemen to live up to the bill of Thomas, arguably the best lineman ever to put on a Badger jersey, there might have been some truth in those words.
