Scrimmage Report: Saban sees progress

Nick Saban got his first look at his new team playing in its home stadium as the Crimson Tide held its first scrimmage of the spring Friday afternoon. Saban said he was pleased with the play of his team on both sides of the ball but said there are several areas in need of improvement.

"For the first scrimmage, I think we got a lot accomplished out there," Saban said. "The first units on both sides of the ball handled the situation of being out on their own. The communication was good, we didn't have a lot of busted play calls. We did a good job of making adjustments. We made our share of mistakes, a few too many undisciplined type penalties like off-sides, illegal formation, false starts and things like that. Those are things that are related to discipline, focus and making sure you pay attention to detail. We have to continue to work on that and improve in that area."
