Warchant.com's Spring Practice Super Six


Six players that have stepped up this spring



The Seminole football team has completed 11 practices and several scrimmages this spring. With spring practice nearly three-quarters complete, the cream is starting to rise to the top. Here's a look at six players that have dominated the action or improved by leaps and bounds this spring.

Junior running back Jamaal Edwards (6-0/210) from Greensboro, NC (Dudley)



Florida When Edwards signed to play football at Florida State in 2004 he was the No. 7 ranked prep running back in the country according to Rivals.com. It's safe to say that he has massively underachieved so far in his college career. In three years at FSU, Edwards has carried the football just eight times and that included having zero touches last year.



Entering spring practice Edwards was getting little respect from the coaching staff. He was listed third on the depth chart behind freshman Marcus Sims. Prior to the start of spring practice, Warchant.com listed Edwards as one of five players that had underachieved and needed to step up.



Edwards has answered the bell.



Both head coach Bobby Bowden and running backs coach Dexter Carter were very complementary of Edwards' improvement this spring and noted specifically that he is hitting the holes much harder and becoming more of a north-south runner. Because of his efforts, he passed Sims on the depth chart to No. 2 behind Antone Smith. That has pushed Sims to step up his game and it's pretty much an even battle now between the two tailbacks
