Stephen Figueroa: 'If ASU offered...'

Phoenix (Ariz.) Desert Vista standout Steven Figueroa is considered to be among the top tight ends in the 2008 Arizona class. He picked up his first scholarship from UNLV on Monday, but has a favorite school that is much closer to home.

"They sent me a message asking me to call them and then when I did they gave me an official verbal offer," Figueroa said of UNLV.

The 6-foot-4.5, 218-pounder said that he is also receiving serious attention from Arizona State, Colorado and Washington and he was invited to the Junior Day at Illinois and UNLV. He is also interested in Arizona, Cal and some other west coast programs.

"My older brother goes to [Arizona] but I like ASU better. I have heard they are going to continue doing a double tight end and that's definitely my first choice. I've had a couple conversations with (tight ends coach) Dan Cozzetto and some text messages.

"If ASU offered me I would commit."
