Canes offer stud JUCO defensive tackle

The Canes landed WR Kayne Farquharson this past recruiting season from El Camino (Calif.) Junior College. And now UM is on the track of another El Camino standout.

DT Justin Thompson says he received a written Miami offer last week.

The Canes add to his offer list that already includes LSU, Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Tennessee and Hawaii.

"When Miami offered I was real surprised because I didn't know they were looking at me," said Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 290-pounder with 4.9-second speed. "I hadn't talked to Miami coaches before then. I've talked to coach (Clint) Hurtt over text messages now. He was just telling me they saw my highlight tape and they really love me. He said I could come in there and start, that he wants me to come in there and start playing as soon as I get there. I'd have two years of eligibility, and he said they need D tackles and that he hopes I get down there.
