O-D East notebook: Lots of Monday action

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.- A physical afternoon session and one-on-one drills in the morning highlighted the East squad's second day of practices for the inaugural Offense-Defense All-American Bowl on Monday.

Titanic battles between some of the country's top offensive and defensive line prospects, along with great matchups between talented receivers and defensive backs brought a new level of intensity to both sessions.

The players will continue to battle for starting spots with two practices Tuesday. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday and will be televised live by ESPNU.

Starting defense?

The first defensive unit out on the field for the team session of the morning practice consisted of Carlos Dunlap and Cliff Matthews at the defensive end spots, Donald Langley[db] and [db]Antonio Jeremiah at defensive tackle, Kendall Smith, Rolando McClain and Brandon Hicks at linebacker, Morgan Burnett and Michael McNeil at safety and Doug Wiggins and Brandon Paul at cornerback.
