Stafford and Dawgs Enjoy the Bye Week

The Georgia Bulldogs hit the practice field for the only
time this week Wednesday in the rain. After practice, head coach Mark Richt
addressed the false rumors about
Joe Tereshinski starting the Georgia
Tech game at quarterback by saying that freshman Matthew Stafford is
the starter and they are reluctant to use other quarterbacks right now. "I
have not thought about it (playing Tereshinski) and we have been trying to establish
Stafford's confidence and we have not thought much about doing any QB
substitutions until things have settle down a little bit," said Richt.

Stafford will make his sixth start of the year against
the Yellow Jackets next week. Georgia is 4-2 this season when Stafford starts
and he is undefeated as a starter in Sanford Stadium.

The Georgia coaching staff usually tries to play a few
of the seniors in their final home game, but coach Richt said after practice
that there are no special plans for the Tech game and they are focused on winning.

"We always look at that and we would love for all
of the seniors to play in their last ball game and we will look into that and
think about that, but the focus will always be doing what you normally would
do and if you have an opportunity to do that then it is great. Joe T in particular
is the kind of guy we could insert in there and feel confident he would play
well."

Georgia needs a win over Georgia Tech to help secure
a bid to quality bowl game and to have a shot at ending the season in the top
25 for the sixth straight season under Richt.
