Rivals100 TE is a Terp

The Maryland Terrapins have become known for their tight ends recently thanks to super freak Vernon Davis. Last year the Terps signed four-star player Drew Gloster to fill the vacancy left by Davis. Now he has some serious competition.

"Lansford wanted to commit a week ago but we wanted him to hold off to make sure it was what he wanted," said Shawn O'Connor, head coach at Brooklyn, N.Y., Lincoln of Rivals100 tight end Lansford Watson. "He was going to call coach Friedgen today and make it official, but he's headed to Maryland. He likes that it's close to home, the tight end situation and the offense and the coaches."

Watson, ranked as the No. 3 tight end and No. 73 player in the nation, chose the Terps over North Carolina in a close race.

"He liked both but I think in the end it was the distance," said O'Connor. "He wants to be close enough to home where he can get back and North Carolina was just too far away."
