Catching up with Richard Kovalcheck, part two

Arizona transfer Richard Kovalcheck transferred to Vanderbilt this summer, and when practice starts this week, has the opportunity to put himself in the mix for playing time at quarterback. Kovalcheck, the former Rivals.com four-star recruit who started 11 games for the Wildcats in two years, sat down with VandySports.com's Chris Lee last week for a two-part interview.

In part two, Kovalcheck talks about getting to know his new teammates, the quarterback derby, and a number of players who've impressed him in seven-on-seven drills thus far.

CL: "You've been thrown into the quarterback derby with two, maybe three, other guys. Talk about the other quarterbacks right now and your relationships with those guys."

RK:
"The quarterbacks are fine right now. We're just doing seven-on-seven on our own out on the field, and basically you're just trying to develop timing with your receivers and develop relationships and get to know who your playing with and develop relationships on the field.

"I have no idea what the competition's going to be like once camp starts, because I don't know how we're splitting reps, and I don't really have any expectations. Whatever happens, happens. I'm just going to be prepared to know the offense and know the players, and know the defenses, and just compete."
