Syracuse is trying to keep Gronkowski in NY

While the general rule of thumb is the "speed is in the south" in terms of recruiting, the northeast is developing its own mark on the class of 2007, particularly at the tight end position. Four of the nation's current top seven rated ends reside in the northeast, including New York's own Rob Gronkowski.

The 6-foot-6, 232-pound Williamsville North standout has been on the top of nearly every school's list after dominating Empire State football in 2005 with an impressive 648 receiving yards. And to his credit, the four-star big man has extended serious consideration to each suitor, traveling across country to check out programs such as Arizona, Clemson and Notre Dame.
