2006 Look Ahead: Illinois State Redbirds

OPPONENT 1: ILLINOIS STATE REDBIRDS
Sept. 2 @Bill Snyder Family Stadium, 6:10 kickoff

Returning Starters: 17 (8 offense, 8 defense, kicker)
2005 Record: 7-4
Coach: Denver Johnson

Cardinal to Watch: Wide receiver Laurent Robinson (6-2, 193 Sr.)
Illinois State has some real skill on offense, but perhaps nobody as dangerous as Robinson, last year's Offensive Player of the Year in the Gateway Conference. Robinson hauled in 86 passes for 1,465 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 17 yards per reception and will be able to test K-State's defensive backfield.

Wildcat to Watch: The quarterbacks…
It will be extremely interesting to see who starts the game against the Redbirds, whether it's sophomore Allan Evridge or any of the other legitimate candidates at the position. Whoever sees the field against the Redbirds will be challenged by a secondary that welcomes back three of four starters, including talented strong safety James Temple.
