O'Dowd racks up offers and praise

Offensive tackle Kristofer O'Dowd (6-5, 315, 5.1) from Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic has heard from every school in the country that he wanted to hear from except, two.

You can now scratch off UCLA as a school that O'Dowd wanted to hear from as the Bruins not only got in touch with him but also offered the talented behemoth a scholarship.

The Bruins joined a plethora of other schools that includes Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon State, USC, Washington, Tennessee, Baylor, Nebraska, Texas Tech, New Mexico State, Nevada, Michigan State and Ohio State that have offers on the table.

Besides UCLA, O'Dowd has received other recent offers from Utah, Oklahoma and Boston College.

"I kind of like Boston College, too," O'Dowd said. "Boston is a pretty neat town and they made it clear that I would fit in."

"The only school that I haven't heard from that I would like to is Notre Dame," O'Dowd said. "I'm very happy with the ones I've hear from. It's all good."

It isn't hard to figure out why O'Dowd is fast becoming the most sought after offensive lineman on the west coast.

"Kris is the complete package," Salpointe Catholic coach Dennis Bene said.. "He has size, athleticism, and smarts. He is so fit, he carries 310 pounds really easy."
