Alabama lands Florida standout

Pensacola, Fla., defensive back Chris Lett has been considered one of the top prospects in the panhandle since his standout sophomore year.


Earlier this year, Lett, 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, picked up offers from Auburn, Florida and Illinois.


This week, Lett picked up an offer from Alabama and made his decision.


"I talked to coach (Mike) Shula last night and told him I was ready to commit. He was excited and I'm relieved to have this decision behind me," Lett said. "Coach Shula said he was glad I chose Alabama and that he wanted me to focus on my grades because he knew I could make it. He said to study like I practice on the football field."
